I recently completed my first BookBub promotion, and it definitely ranks in the top 5 of my indie publishing experiences. The Truth About Awiti soared to the top of Best Sellers lists and found herself sharing the top three spot with Chimamanda Adiche and recent Man Booker Prize winner, Marlon James. My promotion ran on a Saturday, which was great because all I did was eat snacks and hit the refresh button throughout the day.
Without a doubt, there’s no way I would have reached such a large, targeted audience on my own. I knew from other authors to expect excitement as you watch your novel climb the charts. But what I didn’t anticipate was the joy in having my debut novel in the hands of so many new readers.
Yes, the rankings are great (and yes, I have screenshots of The Truth About Awiti in the #1 spot *squeals*), but as my numbers returned to normal and the chart-climbing excitement subsided, I was left with something even better: over 1300 new owners of The Truth About Awiti, some of whom have already left reviews and are eagerly awaiting my next publication.
Thank you, BookBub! And thank you, readers!
